year ago, if you asked me what a blog was I'd give you a weird look. Today I'm going bonkers for everything blog related. I'm a confessed blog fanatic and here's why...
Adding a single blog to my website has time and time again dramatically increased the traffic I receive. Search engines love blogs. I'll tell you why in a little bit.
First you need to know that a niche blog is simply a blog with content on niche topics. Ie, a blog on car detailing, chicken raising or even the latest digital camera model.
It may seem that blogs are just another fad and will disappear soon enough. Let me show you why it's here to stay for good. In fact, blogs will eventually replace what you know as websites.

... and Google knows that. Otherwise they wouldn't have paid big bucks to obtain Blogger.com
In fact...Google is taking it up another notch. You want proof? Just September of 2005 (this year) they have begun the beta stage of their Blog Search service. Check out the image below:
The door is opening wider and wider for home business owners to jump on this hot new development. Take careful note now and see what the big hitters have been doing secretly to build their Adsense income to dramatic proportions behind the scenes. Take a look at two guys named Darren Rowse and Jason Calacanis for instance...
Darren is a regular chap from Australia who runs a network of niche blogs from his living room. Darren openly discusses that he's on target to make over six figures a year with his network of blogs at problogger.net.
If you think that's impressive, check out Jason Calacanis's stats. Jason, who runs WebLogs Inc, is on target to generate $1,000,000 greenbacks by this time next year. He's creating this income by having a network of niche blogs churning out content seven days a week.
These two public figures are leading the way for monetization of websites using blogs as their backbone. Let me clue you in on something here...
Some fellows I know (who are not in the limelight) are regularly pulling in impressive four figures a day setting up niche blog networks like Darren and Jason. That's at least $1,000 a day!
Darren and Jason are not unique examples of successful niche bloggers. They just happen to have stirred up mega interest in this strategy in the last year. You'll see more and more niche blog networks being set up in the coming months.

Google's Blogger.com service is pretty good for the beginning hobby blogger...but it's lacking in much needed features that are any help in creating your niche blog network.
Secondly, if you're using Blogger.com in conjunction with the Blog and Ping technique you risk having your Adsense account shut down because blogging for the sole purpose of getting links to your sites is against their TOS. View what they have to say:
Blogger prohibits blogs, which are setup either automatically or manually for the purpose of directing traffic through hyperlinks to specific external sites. If you continue to create similar blogs or make similar posts at blogspot.com in the future, we may permanently disable your Adsense account.
True or not, I'm not going to put my money on the line like that.
Here are several reasons why people are opting for WordPress:
- It's free
You can't beat the price. When you see all the benefits of WordPress, you'll wonder why any blog system can compete by charging any price.
- It runs on your own servers
If you're at all serious about running a business online then you need your own website. Hosting a blog on someone else's server may save you some money but you have very little control. In fact, if you're using a system like Blogger.com, your blog can be deleted without warning. Don't run a business on quicksand.
- It contains all of the features you will ever need.
WordPress allows you to do things that a normal website can't even come close to doing. Things such as, rotating content, automatically updating itself with content, changing design on the fly.
WordPress is an open source script. This means that the source code which makes up the program can be freely distributed and manipulated by anyone. This is wonderful on MANY levels.
First, any time an open source software becomes popular, it's rate of growth explodes as more and more amateur and professional programmers try their hands at improving this system. What you get is a constantly improving product with a lot of support. You can't say that about Blogger, Typepad or the other popular blogging systems.
If you ever need something that WordPress can't do, just hire a programmer to create a plugin for you. In a snap, you'll have your own custom program with all the bells and whistles you want.
WordPress is ultra useful out of the box, but with literally hundreds of plugins, you can really pump up the juice on this unique blogging system. In fact, there are over 512 plugins and growing...
...and plugins are super easy to install. Just upload them to your webhost and click 'activate' from inside the WordPress dashboard.
- Customizable Look
You can modify your WordPress sites to the point where they do not even look like blogs. Use the templating and scheme system to integrate the look of your blogs into your site design. This is a very cool and powerful technique with proven earnings increases.
How to Tap Into The Incredible Power of WordPress
While you can still get some benefit from using WordPress out of the box, it's not recommended. Just look at the standard Kubrick theme. You know--- the theme with the blue header.
Not only is it ugly but it screams SPAM blog (or splog, as some people like to call them).
So the first thing you need to do is change the default theme. The second change is to get rid of the default blogrolls. Those are the links to other people's sites who you don't even know.
Then you have to get rid of the default "Hello World!"post.
If you want the spiders to crawl your blogs nonstop you'll want to add your list of sites to ping in the options > writing area of your blog dashboard.
If those were the only changes you make to your blog, you're already looking at at least 5 minutes per blog IF you're fast.
With so many hours in a day, do you really have time to install and optimize dozens of blogs a day? Sure, you can outsource it, but why pay someone else when you can save that money for more important stuff, like buying links to your site?
The new rule for massive search engine indexing is "the more pages indexed, the higher your income." It's really all a numbers game. Read it and repeat it. Spend your time pumping out pages and you'll get some that stick.
